There is Power in Your Words
I talked about the importance of running to the word of God and finding solace in the word. In this essay, I will talk about the power of your words. In Proverbs 18:2, the writer states that there is power of life and death in the tongue and that those who love it will eat its fruits (Proverbs 18:2, NIV). James 3:4–5 states: “Look at the ships: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. So also, the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things: the tongue, that small flappable device in your mouth, is like a small rudder. It turns the boat to the left or the right and moves it where it may.” (James 3:4–5, NIV).
Words from our mouths are so powerful that they can shift our mindset and actions and hinder us. It can also bless, heal, and free us. Through Jesus Christ, our words can cast out devils, heal the sick, and raise the dead in Jesus’ name (Matthew 10:8 and Mark 16:17–18, NIV).
In John 1:1, the Bible states: “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God” (John 1:1, NIV).
